Beware of "Phishing" Attempts by Criminals

“ Phishing " Using the Hino Motors, Ltd. Name or Marks - Criminals have been increasingly attempting to defraud people by disguising their emails as those of well-known companies, including Hino Motors, Ltd., purporting to offer jobs and/or business opportunities. This practice is known as “phishing." These emails generally request that people provide confidential information such as drivers license information, bank account or credit card information to the sender of the email by return email or by filling out an HTML form. Hino Motors, Ltd. never requests people or companies in the public to act as their distributors or representatives by email, does not offer positions of employment to people in the public by email, and does not request people or companies in the public to submit personal information via email or HTML forms. Such messages that appear to be from Hino Motors, Ltd. are not legitimate and should be discarded.

If you believe you are a victim of a scam, you may want to contact your local police and other enforcement authorities. You may also want to submit a complaint with The Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov. If you are a resident of the U.S., you may also want to contact the Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Identity Theft group at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft.

 

E-Mail Hoax

Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. has become aware of a bogus spam e-mail claiming to be from Hino Motors, Ltd. and or the President of Hino Motors, Ltd. Shoji Kondo. This scam appears to be a typical Nigerian 409 scam attempting to defraud e-mail recipients.

The e-mail claims to be from the President of Hino Motors, Ltd., Shoji Kondo. It advises recipients that their assistance is needed to facilitate the transaction and clearing of U.S. and Canadian checks and further asks the recipient to send personal information to an e-mail address not associated with Hino Motors, Ltd. To make the message look more legitimate, information is pasted in the e-mail from a recent message delivered by the President of Hino Motors, Ltd.

Hino Motors, Ltd. never requests people or companies to act as Hino’s distributor or collects any personal information via e-mail.

Hino Motors, Ltd., requests that you promptly disregard any e-mail messages that you have received or may receive in the future falsely assuming the name of Hino Motors, Ltd.

Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. Holds Grand Opening in Arkansas

Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A. Inc. held a grand opening ceremony at the Arkansas Plant site (Marion, Arkansas) at 11 a.m. on February 7th local time (1 a.m. on February 8th Japan time).

The ceremony was attended by special guests including The Honorable Mr. Mike Beebe, Governor of Arkansas, The Honorable Frank Fogleman, Mayor of Marion, The Honorable William Johnson, Mayor of West Memphis, Mr. Seiichi Sudo, president of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA), and representatives of all customer companies and local related companies. From Hino Group, Mr. Shoji Kondo, president of Hino and Mr. Yasuo Tanigawa, president of HMM attended.

The plant started operation in October, 2006 as a production plant for Toyota vehicle parts such as axles, and has continued smooth production attaining the cumulative production of 100,000 units (unit conversion) in May last year. At this time, taking advantage of the opportunity of a full-line production system being completed in time to start the production of new parts, HMM once again held an opening ceremony, and in doing so, reported the stable operation of the plant to all people concerned, including those in the local community.

HMM’s desire to contribute to the local community was demonstrated by Hino’s president Kondo at the end of the ceremony as he presented a $10,000 check to Mid South Community College (MSCC) president, Dr. Glen Fenter in support of the College’s Advanced Manufacturing Curriculum. HMM’s president Tanigawa followed this by announcing the establishment of an annual Hino college scholarship, beginning with the 2008-2009 academic year.

With these gestures and a determination to further improve the production activities of the plant, Hino group demonstrated its will to continue setting a good example to the world while contributing to the development of its local community and customers for many years to come.

Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A. Inc., Begins Operations in West Virginia

(Williamstown, WV) Hino Motors Manufacturing USA, Inc. (HMM), today began its official start of operations at its newest commercial truck assembly facility in Williamstown, West Virginia. The facility, the second in the U.S. producing Hino trucks, is the first transportation equipment assembly plant in the State of West Virginia.

“We are very excited to start production at this assembly plant,” said Yasuo Tanigawa, President of HMM. “Our Team Members in Williamstown have worked very hard to meet Hino’s rigid quality requirements. I commend them all for their dedication and commitment to HMM and, more importantly, to our customers.”

Joe Chronley, General Manager of the Williamstown facility, expressed appreciation for the efforts of the local community and state officials. “We could not have been more welcomed by people in the area, businesses in the region, and local and state government leaders. Our future success will be a reflection on the so many in West Virginia who have worked to make our start-up flow smoothly,” Chronley said.

According to Mr. Tanigawa, the small start of operations celebration was for HMM West Virginia Team Members and Team Leaders. A more formal, public ceremony will be held sometime in the first half of 2008.

Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A. Inc., Selects West Virginia for New Truck Assembly Plant

Hino Motors, Ltd. (Hino) has decided to establish a new assembly plant for trucks designed for the North American market in West Virginia as a unit of Hino Motors Manufacturing USA., Inc. (HMM), its manufacturing subsidiary in the U.S.

Hino launched the assembly of trucks designed for the North American market through production outsourced to TABC in California in October 2004 and established an assembly plant in Canada later in April 2006 for the purpose of curtailing delivery times to customers and enhancing the efficiency of distribution.

It is now establishing its second assembly plant for trucks in the U.S. and the third in North America in West Virginia, which is located closer to areas of demand, with the aim of boosting production capacity in response to the increase in the truck sales volume in the U.S. and promoting the reinforced efficiency of finished vehicle distribution in the U.S. market.
